Through three generations, Young’s Fish Market and Restaurant has passed down our most valued traditions of family, community, and made-from-scratch recipes to create an experience that feels like home wherever you are.
Established in 1951, Wilfred and Charlotte Young opened a modest shop located on Liliha Street specializing in the sale of fresh fish. As time passed the store began supplementing its offerings to include prepared dishes and grocery items to offset slow fishing seasons. After a particularly difficult fishing year, a friend suggested selling laulau and other Hawaiian style foods and the additions were a hit.
In the 80's, Alan Young and Barbara Connelly, Wilfred and Charlotte’s children, took over and Hawaiian Food became the focus of the business. A second store was established in Chun Hoon Shopping Center in Nu‘uanu, leading the business to flourish and achieve remarkable success.
In 2000, due to a fire incident, the second location relocated to Dillingham Avenue and the decision was made to shutter the original Liliha store as construction commenced for our present location in City Square Shopping Center.
Presently, the Young family's third generation is carrying on the family legacy. Daniel and Andrea Young, two of Alan's children, helm the business, overseeing its growth into catering, care packages to the mainland. They remain dedicated in their commitment to delivering the beloved and anticipated Young's Fish Market experience to all their customers.
